The Female Forester
Home
AboutI was on a high. Finally my dream job working in the woods. It sure beat my first 10 years wearing high heels and matching purse and banging on a typewriter. But my body was changing. When .numbness hit my toes and crept up to my chest I knew doctor’s opinion was necessary. In 1983 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis primary Progressive the worst leaving little hope for the future It’s now or never. I bought a horse and rented 5 Acres with a house hoping the h e i r s would settle and sell to me, but a year later i bought 2 1/2 acres of land with a trailer a short horse ridefrom many hundreds of Acres o f Wild abandoned land in the Meramec River watershed. Before this disease could ravage my body and plans for the future I was going to enjoy my dreams! I learned a lot from my big well-bred two-year-old filly much smarter than me. I learned a lot from my wild roaming beautiful chickens. I learned about c cutting and splitting firewood 2 Heat my house and how lightning can destroy a well pump in the ground I learned a lot from roaming the woods with my horse. I’ve learned a lot from my feral dog that could tree squirrels for me to shoot and occasionally catch one herself And of course I learned a lot on my job cruising Timber alone in the woods and fighting forest fires and working with the Crews. Now I am back in the city sharing what I have learned about trees and about health. And we will never run out of topics.
